Trent Edwards (79.1) performance tonight against the Pittsburgh Steelers is a classic example of why I love the National Football League. The kid could flat out play in college; however, he struggles intensely with pro reads and a defeciency in talent. For instance, take a look at his line for tonight:
6 for 13, 31 yards which averages 2.4 ypa posting a standard 21.0 quarterback rating!!! Of course those stellar statistics do not include the infamous interception that led to a touchdown by James Farrior!! Hooray Trent Edwards.
Statistically, Edwards has complied some fantastic stats that rank him below the Kordell Stewart line despite his above line career qb rating. Trents has managed to fumble 13 times in 24 appearances as a professional. While he has only lost 5 in his career, this is clearly a concern that might present an issue with his new friend 2 (T.O.). Trent also sufferes from a 1 to 1 ratio of interceptions to touchdowns. . .however, last year he did manage to throw 11 touchdowns while only throwing to the other color 10 times.
Here is a look at his preseason stats –
